Immersed in Anusara

Dear Yogis,
I have just returned from my first Anusara Immersion with Jordan Bloom at Airyoga in Munich, which was inspiring, uplifting and a lot of fun. The principles of alignment are excellent, tantra philosophy so liberating and the community - like any yoga community - very welcoming and friendly.
At first I was sceptic about Anusara. Primarily because to me they made it sound as if John Friend had invented yoga... yeah right... let's trademark something that's more than 2000 years old. Well, whaddya know - now I think that John Friend actually has invented a new part of yoga. What he's done in a superb way is translate this extremely old philosophy and tradition further into todays context. To me, Anusara has made yoga more accessible and applicable to every-day-life today, a language and attitude I can connect with extremely well. I do have a conservative attitude and tend not to touch or change things, which are old, because I believe they must be perfect if they are more than 2000 years old. But yoga is something we live with every day... today and in todays world. Things change, people change, so yes - we do have to find new ways to explore and live our yoga.
I certainly won't turn my back on Vinyasa or other yoga styles now. What makes it interesting is the mixture and being able to adjust practice and experience to different needs. Anusara is a wonderful piece within this puzzle.
So the first immersion has been great. Some repetition from the Airyoga teacher training, which was a nice reminder, and also new impressions and different perspective. Jordan has been a relaxed and patient teacher. I can't wait for the next immersion.
If you are interested in Anusara® and live in or around Nürnberg, I have good news for you:
Barbra Noh is coming to town on June 5th. Stay tuned for more information.
